Welcome to glasgowsleepclinic.com owned and operated by Primary Medical Limited.
‘Reclaim your Sleep’ is a group course, with up to 12 participants.

It consists of 2x one-hour sessions, each of which is delivered via Zoom.
Each session is booked, is booked and charged separately.
Suitability
Reclaim your sleep is intended for individuals struggling with Insomnia:
Persistent difficulty initiating sleep, maintaining sleep, or waking too early and being unable to return to sleep.
The sleep difficulty occurs at least 3 nights per week.
It is present for at least 3 months.
It causes clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, educational, academic, behavioural, or other important areas of functioning.
It occurs despite adequate opportunity and circumstances for sleep.
It is not better explained by another sleep-wake disorder and is not attributable to substances/medications or another mental or medical condition.
Contraindications
Reclaim your Sleep is based on the principles of CBT-I.
In the short-term CBT-I can reduce the amount of sleep you get, as such any conditions which may be exacerbated by reduced sleep are contraindications to CBT-I
Please do not book this course if you suffer from:
excessive day time sleepiness, defined as an Epworth Sleepiness Score of greater than 10 (https://www.msdmanuals.com/professional/multimedia/clinical-calculator/epworth-sleepiness-scale-ess)
seizures or epilepsy
bipolar affective disorder or history of psychosis
recurrent suicidal thoughts or previous suicide attempts
mental health conditions requiring ongoing treatment by Psychiatry or Community Mental Health team
Excessive Daytime Sleepiness
If you do struggle with excessive daytime sleepiness we recommend you contact your GP.
Some of the techniques employed in CBT-I may, in the short-term, cause daytime sleepiness. Careful attention must be paid to this if you drive, operate heavy machinery, or perform any other activities which may be dangerous if performed when tired, or at risk of falling asleep. If you ever feel there is any chance you may fall asleep in a situation where it would be dangerous to do so you must stop what you are doing and take a short nap.
It remains your responsibility to ensure you do not drive, or undertake any other activities that may be harmful to yourself or others, when feeling sleepy/at risk of falling asleep.
We cannot be present when decisions are made about whether or not to drive.
Therefore, please ensure you are aware of the above advice, take into consideration the other circumstance (such as time of day, previous night’s sleep and intercurrent illness) and refer to the following DVLA publications:

CBT for insomnia
CBT for insomnia normally takes place over four to six sessions. Most people with insomnia achieve symptom improvement with CBT-I. We are confident that we can help most clients who undertake CBT for insomnia, however we cannot guarantee success. Payment is still expected in full if symptoms do not improve.
Contraindications and cautions for CBT for insomnia
There are certain medical and mental conditions which would prevent us doing CBT-I. These include:
seizures or epilepsy
bipolar affective disorder or history of psychosis
recurrent suicidal thoughts or previous suicide attempts
mental health conditions requiring ongoing treatment by Psychiatry or Community Mental Health team
If you struggle with any of these conditions, or do not complete Initial Questionnaire, Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) and Sleep Disorders Questionnaire prior to Initial Sleep Assessment we can give general sleep advice, rather than any CBT-I tools/techniques.
Excessive Daytime Sleepiness and Driving
People struggling with insomnia do not usually experience excessive daytime sleepiness.
During CBT-I we will aim to monitor for excessive daytime sleepiness using Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), or comparing recent daytime symptoms to previous ESS. Nevertheless, it remains your responsibility to ensure you do not drive, or undertake any other activities that may be harmful to yourself or others, when feeling sleepy/at risk of falling asleep. We cannot be present when decisions are made about whether or not to drive. Therefore, please ensure you are aware of the above advice, take into consideration the other circumstance (such as time of day, previous night’s sleep and intercurrent illness) and refer to the following DVLA publications:
